Notices and the Bell

Notices are messages about your services that we show in the customer portal: something that affects your network, your controller or your billing, with what to do about it. They come from the live state of your account, so they appear when they apply to you and go away when they no longer do.

Where notices appear

  • Banners. Each notice you haven't closed shows as a banner at the top of every portal page, with a button for the next step and a link to the matching help article.
  • The bell. The bell in the top bar shows a count of the notices you haven't closed yet. Click it to see every current notice, including the ones you've closed.

If there's nothing for you, the bell says No notices.

Closing a notice

Click the X on a banner to close it. The banner stops showing on every device you use, but the notice stays in the bell, listed below any open ones in a lighter style. Click the bell to read it again in full.

Closing a notice doesn't change anything on your service. It only hides the banner.

Why a notice disappeared

A notice shows while its reason applies to your account. Once that's no longer true, it disappears from the banners and the bell by itself. For example:

  • the USG notice goes once there are no USG gateways left on your controllers;
  • the standalone Network Application notice goes once your services have moved to UniFi OS Server;
  • the billing notice goes once you've switched to Stripe.

Some of these are based on regular checks of your controller, so a notice can take a little while to clear after you've made the change. The USG notice, for example, clears after our next check, which runs every 15 minutes for most services and daily for some.

Why a colleague still sees a notice I closed

Closing a notice is per person. Each user on your account sees every notice that applies until they close it themselves.

Some notices are only shown to certain roles. The billing notice, for example, is shown to users with the Admin or Billing role, who can see the Billing page.

Why a closed notice came back

If we make an important change to a notice, for example when Ubiquiti announces a date we've been waiting for, it can show as a banner again so you see the new information.

FAQ

I closed a notice by mistake

Click the bell. Every current notice is listed there, and you can open it in full and use its buttons.

Do I have to act on every notice?

Each notice says what it means for you and whether anything needs doing. Many are for information and planning, and the linked help article explains your options.

Will you email me about notices?

We may email you to let you know there are new notices in the portal. The email lists their titles, and the details are in the portal.

I think a notice is wrong

Contact us at support@cloudunifi.com or through the chat and tell us which notice and which service. For the USG notice, check first that the old gateway has been forgotten in the Network application: see USG gateways and UniFi Network 10.6.
